Questions
The rest of your worries, answered plainly
Ownership and security first, because those two decide whether the rest matters.
Ownership, security and your data
Who owns the software?
You do. Code and intellectual property are yours, handed over with documentation at the end. It is in the contract, not just on this page.
You use AI. Is the code any good?
AI speeds up writing code. It does not design the solution, review the result or carry the responsibility — a developer does. The work is tested and security-checked before it reaches you, and what you get is documented software another developer could pick up.
What happens to our data?
Settled during scoping: what is personal, where it lives, how long it is kept. If your tool uses AI features, we agree in advance what those features can see.
Can you help with POPIA?
We document how your software handles personal information and design it to support your obligations. Wider compliance work can be handled with AppTech.
Where is it hosted?
Your cloud, your servers, or hosting we manage. Whichever you choose, it is backed up, monitored and patched.
Cost, scope and time
What does a project cost?
It depends on what scoping finds, so we do not publish prices. Scoping is paid and separate, and it ends with a fixed quote for the build.
What if we change our minds halfway?
Normal, and planned for. Anything outside the agreed scope is quoted before the work starts, so the decision is yours before the cost is.
How long does it take?
The date comes out of scoping, once we know what connects to what. Better a date we can hold to than one that sounds good on a first call.
Fit, and what happens after
Our processes are manual and messy. Is that a problem?
That is the starting point for most of this work. We map what happens now, including the exceptions, and automate it in stages.
Will it work with the systems we already have?
Usually. An API, a database, a reliable export or even a consistent email is enough to work with. We confirm it during scoping, before you commit to a build.
What happens after launch?
Thirty days of fixes are included. After that you can take a support agreement covering hosting, monitoring, updates and changes, or handle it yourself with the documentation.
What if you are not around in three years?
AppTech has been trading since 2002 and the development work sits inside that company. Beyond that, you hold documented code written in mainstream technology, so you are never dependent on us by force.
Do you work with clients outside South Africa?
Yes. Work is done remotely, and South African hours overlap the working day in the UK, Europe, the Middle East and much of Asia.

Tell us about the process that wastes the most time
One call is usually enough to know whether it is worth building, and how we would approach it.
- We read your enquiry and reply within one working day.
- If an off-the-shelf product would do the job better, we will say so.
- No sales sequence and no automated follow-ups.
