Who we are

For the purposes of the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA) we are the responsible party for the information described below. Where the UK or EU General Data Protection Regulation applies to you, we are the controller.

What the enquiry form collects

Only what you type into it:

Your name
Your email address
Your company
Your country
Your phone number, if you choose to give it
What you would like to fix or automate

The form also records the time it was opened and your IP address. Both are used only to stop automated spam, and neither appears in the email we receive.

Why we hold it, and on what basis

To read your enquiry and reply to it. That is the only purpose. Under POPIA the basis is that processing is necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract; under the GDPR it is Article 6(1)(b) for the same reason, with our legitimate interest in preventing spam covering the IP address.

We do not add you to a mailing list, we do not run a sales sequence, and we do not pass your details to anyone for marketing.

Where it goes and how long we keep it

The form sends one email to info@apptechdev.co.za, which is a mailbox we control. A copy is written to a log on the web server so that an enquiry is never lost to a mail failure. That log is not reachable from the web and is cleared every ninety days.

Enquiries that do not lead anywhere are deleted within twelve months. Enquiries that become a project are kept for as long as the business relationship lasts, and then for the period South African tax and company law requires.

Who else sees it

Our hosting provider, xneelo (Pty) Ltd, which operates the servers in South Africa, and the mail provider that delivers the message. Neither has any right to use your information for their own purposes. Nobody else.

Analytics and cookies

This site sets no cookies and runs no third-party marketing or advertising scripts. Any analytics we use are aggregate and cookie-free, which is why there is no consent banner interrupting you. If that ever changes, a banner will appear and it will default to refusing.

Your rights

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Write to info@apptechdev.co.za and we will reply within one working day and act within thirty days.

If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa (inforegulator.org.za), or to your own supervisory authority if you are in the UK or the EU.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS only. The form is validated and rate limited on the server, not only in your browser. What we do on projects is set out on the Security page, and we hold this site to the same standard.

Changes

If this notice changes, the date at the top changes with it. We do not make changes retroactively.
